Congresswoman Mary Gay-Scanlon (D-PA) apparently acknowledged that the Justice Department was involved in the selective prosecution of pro-life activist Mark Houck, whose home was raided by more than 30 heavily armed FBI agents last year. Houck, 48, was eventually acquitted on charges of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrance Act (FACE), which makes it a federal crime to use violence with intent to injure, intimidate, and disturb anyone as a result of the person obtaining reproductive health care. .
The allegations stem from an October 13, 2021 incident in which Houck was accused of pushing a 72-year-old activist at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Philadelphia. The activist reportedly abused Houck’s 12-year-old son, prompting Houck to push him away after he refused to stop and got too close to his son.

Left-wing activists demanded indictments, but even Soros-backed Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner refused to charge Houck. A civil lawsuit against the pro-life activist was also dropped. Then, over a year later, the FBI conducted a SWAT style raid on his home and detained him even after he agreed to a peaceful surrender.
On Tuesday, Rep. US Dan Bishop (R-NC) questioned the DOJ’s priorities during a hearing for the House Oversight, Investigative and Accountability Committee. “Do you have any insight into why they sued Mr Houck for an altercation with an activist outside – and sent in a SWAT team? And take him to a jury that acquits him, but they haven’t caught the man who carried out the arson attack at the abortion clinic? Any insight at all? Bishop asked Talcott Camp, chief legal officer at the National Abortion Federation.
When Camp declined to provide an answer, Bishop asked if any of the panel members were aware of the Biden Administration’s tough approach to the Houck case. At that time, Rep. US Scanlon asked if Bishop would give him his time so he could give an answer, to which he agreed.
“Mr. Houck was known to be an aggressive participant in demonstrations outside Philadelphia [abortion] facility,” he said before Bishop regained his time.
“Mr. Houck was an activist, he was against killing children through abortion and he said it was, so they targeted him. Let me tell you what it is – it’s called unconstitutional selective prosecution,” Bishop said. “You can’t make a prosecution decision because you want to set an example from someone who is known to be an anti-abortion or pro-life activist. You can’t do that, it’s unconstitutional,” the North Carolina lawmaker continued.
“If that is the answer to the question I asked Ms. Camp, then it will deepen concerns about the justice department and the FBI.”
