The first shot keeper to win the English top flight 5 times in the modern era was Peter Schmeichel. The Danish goalkeeper (who is also of Polish nationality) joined Manchester United in the summer of 1991. He started his domestic career with the Red Devils with four consecutive clean sheets. However, he had to wait until the following season before he won the league. Interestingly, he started his first title-winning season with an assist on game one day of the 1992/93 season. The former Denmark international repeated his title-winning feat in the 1993/94 season. This time, he kept 15 clean sheets in 40 games. The 2-time World Best Goalkeeper remains a loyal member of the squad that won the EPL in the 1995/96, 1996/97, 1998/99 seasons. As well as those league titles, Schmeichel also won the EFL Cup (one time) and the FA Cup (three times). Since the Dane left Manchester United in 1999, no other player has won the EPL five times until 2022/23.

Ederson Moraes is the man who recently joined the Danish shot stopper as a 5-time Premiership winner. The Brazilian goalkeeper moved to England’s top flight when he joined Manchester City for a fee of €40 million in the summer of 2017. He kept 17 clean sheets as he won the title with The Citizens in his first season in England. He stepped up his form the following season as he pulled off 20 league shutouts helping the Manchester Blues to another crown.

The Brazil international started a three-season title run in the 2020/21 season. He kept 19 clean sheets in that season. The following season, Ederson had 20 shutouts as he helped The Citizens finish in first place. With two matches remaining, the winner of the 2018/19 Copa America won the 2022/23 edition of the EPL. Interestingly, he only kept 11 clean sheets, far fewer than he had in the previous season.
