Phalaphala scandal blow hot again

The EFF-Economic Freedom Fighters wants National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to prosecute public officials for crimes or irregularities before the courts using articles of impeachment against the ANC and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.



Reports compiled against president Cyril Ramaphosa by the panel make it clear that the prima faced evidence that he violated anti-corruption laws.

In March the president was found not guilty of any crime related to the phalaphala robbery, all that was said was that Ramaphosa reported the incident to the police.

• The EFF wants National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to reconsider setting up an impeachment committee following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision not to contest the Section 89 panel’s findings.
• The party said Parliament had a responsibility to hold Ramaphosa accountable for prima facie evidence finding him violating anti-corruption laws.
• In December, most Members of Parliament refused to adopt the report and formed an impeachment committee
